A Fab Day at Acts of Eden Youth Event

Last Saturday around 30 young people came together for the Acts of Eden youth event. This event was a joint venture between Yate, Fromeside and Zion United Church. The young people spent the afternoon involved in various ecological activities encouraging care for the environment. This time we focused on encouraging the reduction of plastic waste in our environment We made and Altar cloth, planted pansies in plastic bottles, litter picking, handing out reusable bags at Yate shopping centre, making a collage out of used plastic and even short films. Here are those films made: The afternoon ended with a service focusing on the environment and a meal together. Finally in the evening there was fu

Riding and Striding repair the roof!

The two things that stick in my mind most from the cycle ride for Gloucester historic Churches Trust (apart from the acute pain in the top of my thighs following the climb up from Dyrham to Tormarton) were the people I met en route and the beauty of the countryside in these parts. Those of us who were out cycling seemed to form our own little community just for the day, swapping notes about the places we had been and the challenging climbs. It was a joy to discover lots of little lanes where cars hardly travel and an ancient church almost every two miles. Coming Together as one for our Mission Area Walk and Celebration

On Sept 2nd the congregations of Fromeside and Yate walked along the Frome Valley Walkway to meet for a celebration service at St Peters. About 70 people attended the service and we heard a message that we are like the streams of water flowing from the throne in Ezekiel's vision. Read that passage here Like the river in the vision we together can be flowing streams bringing life to the world around us. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon chatting as we walked and sharing stories. Like most church events there was cake at the end too. We recorded a podcast of the walk which you can listen to below. #missionareaevent

Great start to our Growing Leaders Course at St Nix

Last Saturday eight people from Yate parish joined the CPAS growing leaders course at St Nix. The course helps those take their faith to new levels as they explore where God is calling them in their lives. Please pray for this course and for those offering themselves in the service of God. #discipleship

Live our Faith in Everyday Life. Church of England steals our idea!

A few months ago the ministry team in Yate decided to do a sermon series on Faith in Everyday Life. This focuses on the book of James. Then just as we start the National Church begins a campaign for finding faith in everyday life. It's a great campaign and gives us practical help and ideas. Check out the national church site to sign-up. Click here
