Our Story

From the middle ages onwards St Mary’s has been a sanctuary at the heart of Yate. One of the oldest buildings in Yate the building is marked by the changes of our town and nation. In Henry VIII time the original tower fell with the original stairs still within the church walls. St Mary’s has one of the few remaining medieval murals in the country. The Christian story is told by our Victorian and Edwardian stain glass windows.

Today we try and continue that same Christian heritage of care and hope in Yate, fusing both old and new in our building and services.
