God Gives another Promise to Isaiah 9th December

In our fourth reading, we hear a promise to Isaiah that a shoot will spring up from the stump of Jesse. Here we hear the hope that even though a tree may be cut down to its stump a green shoot will emerge. Jesse is King David's dad and Jesus is a descendant of David. Even at hopeless times where things have been cut right back, green shoots of life emerge.
