In Hope Bristol Sleep Out by Youth Group

It goes without saying that 2020 has been a strange year for us all, but amongst the challenges, it is those who are homeless and vulnerable who have suffered the most. We may have all been in the same Covid-19 storm, but we have not all had the same boat in which to stay afloat. The future looks incredibly unclear for those who are homeless or vulnerable, with uncertainty over how long accommodation will be provided for those who sleep rough, questions about what happens if night-shelters are not allowed to open, and the unknown impact of the end of the government’s furlough scheme or the ending of the ban on evictions. Now, more than ever, inHope will be alongside homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol.

Reverend Gail and some of the members of the Rooted Youth Group will be joining in with the Sleep Out 2020 to help raise awareness and funds to ensure that those without a home

can have a warm meal, access to shelter and support in navigating their next steps. The sleep out is a virtual event, taking place in our own homes or gardens joining together to pray beforehand via Zoom. It starts at 10pm on Friday 9th October and will finish by 7am on Saturday 10th October, which is World Homelessness Day. Those unable to sleep out in garden will be sleeping somewhere unusual, like the bath, under the table, or in the cupboard under the stairs!

Please pray for us on Friday evening as we prepare to sleep out, and in your prayers remember also that this is a reality for many people every day and not just for one night.
