Light in the darkness

If you had told me a month ago that we would no longer be allowed to open our churches and required to stay home I would not have believed you, yet here we are. These really are strange and difficult days. However, I was hugely encouraged by the number of you who posted pictures of the candles that you had set in your windows last night in response to the Archbishop's call to prayer. Then this evening, as I was walking home before the Prime Minister made his announcement I saw that some of you were continuing the practice tonight and I wondered whether we could all continue to do this. I realise that no one will walk by to see it, but I feel it has symbolic value and may also help to lift the spirits of your neighbours opposite. And as we light the candle let us remember to pray that this virus will be conquered.
