Week 4 Comfort and Joy is shared with the world

Worship

May your hearts be filled with God’s love towards all people as you consider the life of sacrifice and encouragement of John the Baptist. Thanks be to God

Last Sunday we the lit the Candles of Promise and Hope, Light and for Mary’s Gift.

(light the first three candles)

Today is the fourth Sunday of Advent and we light the Candle of Worship and remember how the poorest shepherds and the greatest Magi came to worship Jesus.

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.

(Luke 2 NIV)

11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2 NIV)

Blessed are you, sovereign Lord, just and true: to you be praise and glory for ever. Shepherds and Magi were witnesses to the truth as a burning and shining light. May we your servants rejoice in his light, and so be led to worship him who is the Lord of our coming kingdom, Jesus our Saviour and King of the ages.

(Light the fourth candle)

Lord Jesus, poor shepherds and magnificent magi followed your light to worship you and honour you with whatever gifts they had. Give us willing hearts to reach out to all people in need with your gifts of love and compassion. Amen.
